My 6 Go-To Cookbooks Right Now

And why I love them!

Note: This post contains affiliate links.

If you’re like me, you’ve probably got a million cookbooks - and some get used more than others. I’m sort of a cookbook collector; especially those from restaurants that I’ve been to where I’m hoping to recreate that perfect meal! But more on that in a later post.

My go-to cookbooks vary from month to month and season to season, but here are six of my favorites that I’ve been gravitating to lately (and no, I couldn’t narrow down the list - LOL):

Milk Street Cookish by Christopher Kimball: Who doesn’t love Milk Street? Christopher Kimball founded Cook’s Magazine (now Cook’s Illustrated) in 1980 and later America’s Test Kitchen. Milk Street offers recipes from around the world using ingredients and techniques that just make sense. The very first recipe I made from Cookish was fabulous - Pasta with Cherry Tomato Sauce & Pistachios. It was so, so good! Plus, I used fresh mint from my garden!

Local Dirt by Andrea Bemis: This is Andrea’s second cookbook (Dishing Up The Dirt is her first), and it focuses on eating locally and using fresh ingredients. Even though Andrea’s located in the Pacific Northwest, I have no problem adapting her recipes for use with ingredients found locally here in Georgia. Farmhouse Chicken Pot Pie - super yum!

Tex Mex by Ford Fry and Jessica Dupuy: This is definitely my go-to for awesome Tex Mex everything! My favorites so far - Chile con Queso, Roasted Tomato Salsa, Salsa Verde and ALL of the enchiladas - Cheese Enchiladas con Chili Gravy, Beef Enchiladas and Enchiladas Suizas (just to name a few)! Thank you Ford Fry!

The Complete Mediterranean Cookbook by America’s Test Kitchen: This cookbook is just such an awesome reference guide. It starts off with the Mediterranean Diet Pyramid, goes through meal planning and stocking your pantry, and includes a lesson on olive oil. Did you know that olive oil should be kept in dark glass? This cookbook contains all of the Mediterranean classics - and most include the Test Kitchen’s famous “why this recipe works” section.

Southern from Scratch by Ashley English: This cookbook is a newer addition to my stash and I’m already totally in love! This is not your typical “southern foods” cookbook - it’s so much more. With categories like Pickles & Relishes, Jams & Spreads and Fats & Meats, Ashley expertly moves through the creation of a Southern pantry. And those Buttermilk Biscuits with Sausage Gravy - who can resist?

Love Real Food by Kathryne Taylor of Cookie & Kate: This cookbook has been with me for quite a while. Having discovered the Cookie & Kate blog several years ago, it was a no brainer to add this book to my collection. The focus here is on whole foods - no refined products or processed sugars. Kathryne’s fresh cooking style is totally addictive (whether you’re a vegetarian or not).

So these are the featured fab six that I’m cooking from right now. You can find them all on Amazon by clicking on the affiliate links in this post. I’m not getting paid to talk about any of these cookbooks - they truly are on my favorites list and I use them regularly! But if you click through and take action, I’ll be compensated as an Amazon Affiliate.

Happy Cooking!
